Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club is one of the Grand Strand’s signature Lowcountry experiences, a Jack Nicklaus design where the setting is not background decoration. Marshes, creeks, lakes, live oaks, and wind all become part of the round.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1988, Pawleys Plantation plays as a par 72 and stretches to 7,026 yards from the championship tees. The course asks players to think through landing areas, approach angles, bailouts, and carry numbers instead of simply chasing distance.
The front nine builds through classic Nicklaus shaping, with doglegs, bunkers, lakes, and green complexes that reward smart positioning. The back nine turns the scenery up, bringing marshland into focus on several memorable holes.
The par-3 13th is the postcard moment, playing across the marsh to a bulkheaded green complex that also connects into a massive double green. It is short on the card, but it carries the sort of tiny theater that can make a foursome go silent.

Pawleys Plantation is a course where every shot seems to have a preferred angle. The fairways can be generous in spots, but the marsh, lakes, hollows, bunkers, wind, and large green complexes make careless positioning feel expensive.
