Legends Resort – Moorland Course
A bold P.B. Dye design at Legends Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach, Moorland is known for dramatic mounding, deep bunkers, waste areas, water, forced carries, multi-tiered greens, and one of the most memorable short par fours on the Grand Strand.
A dramatic Legends layout with full Dye-family fingerprints.
Legends Moorland is the most visually aggressive of the three on-site Legends Resort courses. Designed by P.B. Dye, the course takes the familiar Dye vocabulary of mounding, hazards, intimidation, awkward angles, bulkhead-style edges, and bold green complexes, then turns the volume knob a little past polite conversation.
The scorecard number does not fully explain the experience. Moorland is not just about length. It is about what the hole asks you to do from uneven lies, what the green gives back after a cautious approach, and how much nerve you have when a hazard is sitting in your peripheral vision like a tax auditor in spikes.
Moorland has often been compared to the PGA West Stadium Course because of its sculpted landforms, deep bunkers, waste areas, water, and visually intense shot values. The result is a course that feels bold, memorable, and very different from a standard resort round.
For Myrtle Beach golf groups, Moorland is a strong choice when the itinerary needs a memorable challenge, a course with a clear personality, and a round that creates stories. It pairs especially well with Heathland and Parkland because each Legends course feels like a different chapter in the same resort book.
Dye-family drama
Moorland brings the visual intimidation golfers expect from the Dye name, using mounds, hazards, bulkheads, uneven stances, and demanding green sites to make every decision feel alive.
Waste areas and bunkers
Sand is not just decoration here. Large waste areas and deep bunkers shape tee shots, approaches, recoveries, and the emotional weather forecast of the round.
Hell’s Half Acre
The famous short par-4 16th is the course’s signature moment, offering a tempting risk-reward decision guarded by one of Myrtle Beach golf’s most infamous hazards.
