Wachesaw East Golf Club gives South Strand golfers a polished Murrells Inlet round with a real tournament backbone. Built on former rice plantation land, the course pairs Lowcountry scenery with fairways, wetlands, water, and bunkering that keep the round moving with purpose.
Designed by Clyde Johnston and opened in 1996, Wachesaw East plays as a par 72 and stretches to 6,933 yards from the championship tees. The course has hosted four nationally televised LPGA Tour events, so the layout has more competitive pedigree than the calm scenery first lets on.
The routing moves through gently rolling terrain, old-growth trees, natural wetlands, ponds, and strategically placed bunkers. It is not a brute-force design. It asks for controlled tee shots, smart layups, and approaches that respect the proper side of the green.
