Course Overview

A Carolina pine course with value, shape, and shot-making bite.

Burning Ridge Golf Club is a Conway favorite with a classic Myrtle Beach feel: framed by Carolina pines, shaped by rolling fairways, and built around a playable but strategic Gene Hamm layout. The course sits just west of Myrtle Beach on the Highway 501 corridor, making it an easy fit for arrival days, departure days, and central-area golf trips.

Opened in 1980, Burning Ridge plays as a par 72 and stretches to 6,780 yards from the Black tees. The course is not trying to win the brute-force contest. Its strength is in the way it asks players to pick targets, shape the ball, and manage elevated greens, bunkers, and water without feeling beaten up before the turn.

The course underwent a significant renovation in 2005, with wider fairways, updated bunkers, and improved playability. Today, Burning Ridge features TifEagle Bermuda greens, Bermuda-419 fairways, and a layout that still rewards discipline over mindless driver-swinging.

For a 2026 Myrtle Beach golf trip, Burning Ridge is a strong value pick for groups that want friendly conditions, a peaceful Conway setting, and enough shot-making to keep the round honest without turning the day into a survival contest.

Playing Notes

How Burning Ridge plays.

Burning Ridge gives players room to enjoy the day, but it is not a point-and-shoot layout. Doglegs, pine borders, bunkers, elevated greens, and water hazards make smart positioning matter from the first few holes.

The front nine asks for controlled tee shots on several holes where driver is not always the automatic answer. On the back nine, the water and green complexes add pressure, especially when the round starts to tighten.

For 2026 trips, Burning Ridge fits groups that want a playable Conway course with value, charm, and enough strategy to keep matches alive. It is friendly, but it still has a little smoke in the bunkers.
