Tiger’s Eye Golf Links
A Tim Cate design at Ocean Ridge Plantation, Tiger’s Eye Golf Links blends dramatic sandhills-style elevation, virgin pine forest, coquina boulder bulkheads, native waste areas, TifEagle greens, TifSport fairways, marshlands, waterfalls, and one of the most acclaimed Big Cats experiences.
The Big Cat with sandhills bones and Lowcountry teeth.
Tiger’s Eye Golf Links is widely viewed as the heavyweight of the Big Cats at Ocean Ridge Plantation. Designed by Tim Cate and opened in 2000, the course is carved through virgin Carolina pine forest and natural sandhills, giving it a look and feel that stands apart from flatter coastal layouts.
The course plays as a par 72 and stretches to 7,014 yards from the Saber Tooth tees. With elevation changes that reach roughly 60 feet, Tiger’s Eye brings a rare amount of vertical movement to the Myrtle Beach golf market, pairing broad views with demanding shot values.
The design mixes Pinehurst-style green complexes, mature longleaf pines, dense hardwood borders, native grasses, wildflowers, natural waste areas, marshlands, waterfalls, lakes, and more than a half-mile of coquina boulder bulkheads. It is a course built to make players think, not just swing.
For a 2026 Myrtle Beach golf trip, Tiger’s Eye is a premium Big Cats centerpiece. It has the national reputation, the scenery, the conditioning, and enough bite around the greens to keep confident players from getting too comfortable.
Tim Cate drama
Tiger’s Eye uses elevation, native waste areas, water, marsh, waterfalls and pine-framed corridors to create one of Cate’s most visually intense designs.
Coquina boulder bulkheads
More than 35,000 tons of coquina boulders were used around the course, giving Tiger’s Eye a rugged, instantly recognizable edge.
Pinehurst-style greens
Large, undulating TifEagle greens create hidden pins, demanding short-game shots and plenty of putting movement once players reach the surface.

How Tiger’s Eye plays.
Tiger’s Eye asks for more than power. The fairways can look inviting, but elevation, bunkering, water, native waste areas and angled green sites make the correct side of the hole matter all day.
The short game is the real judge. The greens are large, fast-paced and undulating, with pin locations that can be partially hidden or guarded by sand and water. Miss in the wrong place and the recovery becomes a small negotiation with gravity.
For 2026 trips, Tiger’s Eye is best for groups that want a top-tier Big Cats round with scenery and challenge. It is playable from the right tees, but from the back it prowls around the scorecard with very expensive paws.
