Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links
A Clyde Johnston design in Little River, Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links pairs Scottish-inspired shot-making with marshland, live oaks, elevation changes, Champion UltraDwarf greens, and some of the most dramatic Intracoastal Waterway holes on the Grand Strand.
A Waterway course where the pretty views come armed.
Glen Dornoch Waterway Golf Links is one of Myrtle Beach golf’s most scenic north-end experiences. Set in Little River beside the Intracoastal Waterway, the course combines rolling terrain, marsh views, centuries-old live oaks, lakes, natural corridors, and a finishing stretch that can turn a good round into a very honest conversation.
Designed by Clyde Johnston as a tribute to Donald Ross, Glen Dornoch plays with a traditional feel. The holes work with the land rather than flattening it, giving the course more elevation change, more visual movement, and more shot-making texture than many beach-area layouts.
The scorecard reaches 6,890 yards from the Black tees and plays as a par 72, but Glen Dornoch is not a pure bomber’s course. It is a placement course. Angles, misses, layups, and approach discipline matter, especially as the Waterway starts pulling your eyes and golf ball toward trouble.
The famous closing stretch is the soul of the course. Holes 16, 17, and 18 run near the Intracoastal Waterway, with the 18th finishing beside the clubhouse and the ninth and 18th sharing a dramatic double-green setting along the water.
Intracoastal Waterway drama
Glen Dornoch brings the Waterway into play on key holes, including the unforgettable 16th, 17th and 18th finishing stretch.
Donald Ross tribute
Clyde Johnston designed the course with traditional shot values in mind, using natural terrain, strategic angles, and greens that reward smart placement.
Shot-maker’s test
This is not just a grip-and-rip round. The course asks for clear thinking, controlled tee shots, and the discipline to play away from the loudest trouble.

Where Glen Dornoch earns its reputation.
Glen Dornoch is a thinking golfer’s course. The yardage is strong from the back tees, but the real challenge is choosing the right side of the fairway and understanding when to attack. Distance helps, but reckless power can turn scenic golf into swamp archaeology.
The course becomes especially memorable late in the round. The 16th, 17th and 18th holes bring the Intracoastal Waterway into the golfer’s field of vision, and the 17th is one of the most dramatic holes on the property, with marsh and water shaping the decision from tee to green.
For a 2026 Myrtle Beach golf trip, Glen Dornoch is a strong north-end pick for groups that want scenery, challenge, shot-making, and a round that feels different from flatter resort layouts closer to the beach.
