Rivers Edge Golf Club
An Arnold Palmer Signature design in Shallotte, North Carolina, Rivers Edge Golf Club winds through tidal marsh, rolling fairways, riverfront bluffs, strategic bunkering, and one of the most scenic closing stretches on the North Strand.
A Palmer design perched over the Shallotte River.
Rivers Edge Golf Club is one of the most dramatic North Carolina courses in the Myrtle Beach golf orbit. Designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1999, the course uses river bluffs, marshland, tidal creeks, elevation changes, and natural corridors to create a round with more movement than many coastal layouts.
The current official course page lists Rivers Edge as a par 72 playing 6,635 yards, with five tee options that help the course fit a wide range of golf groups. MyrtleBeachGolf.com also lists a longer championship package setup at 6,909 yards, which is included below for reference.
The course lives up to its name. Seven holes are framed by the Shallotte River and marsh, and the last four holes bring the river setting into the round at exactly the moment scorecards start getting nervous. The famous ninth, “Arnie’s Revenge,” is one of the property’s headline holes.
For a 2026 Myrtle Beach golf trip, Rivers Edge is a centerpiece North Strand round for groups that want views, architecture, risk-reward shots, and a course that feels different from standard resort golf.
Arnold Palmer Signature design
Rivers Edge carries Palmer’s signature style with bold shot values, natural movement, memorable greens, and strategic choices that reward confident decisions.
Seven river holes
The Shallotte River and surrounding marshland frame seven holes, giving the course its scenic identity and several of its biggest pressure shots.
Finishing stretch with teeth
The final four holes run along the river setting, turning the end of the round into a scenic little pressure cooker with a Palmer logo on the lid.

How Rivers Edge plays.
Rivers Edge is a placement course dressed up in river scenery. The elevation changes and marsh lines can make targets look tighter than they are, so choosing the correct angle off the tee matters more than swinging hard at every landing area.
The river holes are the pressure points. Wind, marsh carries, uneven lies, and raised greens make distance control important, especially late in the round when the last four holes bring the Shallotte River into the conversation.
For 2026 trips, Rivers Edge is best for groups that want a scenic premium round with real shot-making value. It is playable from the right tees, but the course has enough teeth to punish sleepy decisions.
